SNPE Matériaux Energétiques manufactures propellant grains and energetic subsystems for the defense, aerospace and automotive industries, as well as explosives and propellants for military applications, and the fuel additive 2-EHN (ethyl hexyl nitrate). The company’s expertise in energetic materials, unrivaled in Europe, is anchored in its Le Bouchet Research Center, coupled with in-depth knowledge of safety and environmental protection.

SNPE Matériaux Energétiques operates in the following sectors.

  •  Strategic propulsion, by developing and producing propellant grains for the M51, as well as for the gas generators used in other deterrent systems.
  •  Space propulsion, from the production of small solid propellant grains to the development of the two powerful MPS solid rocket motors for Ariane 5, as well as the production of key raw materials, including ammonium perchlorate.
  •  Automotive safety: SNPE Matériaux Energétiques designs, develops and produces energetic components for gas generators used in airbag deployment, safety belt tensioning and other applications.
  •  Pyrotechnic equipment that meets the demanding requirements of the aerospace, defense and manufacturing industries, through subsidiary PyroAlliance.
  •  High-performance composite materials and intermediate products for the production of engineered parts for aerospace, defense, sports and leisure applications, through subsidiary STRUCTIL.
  •  Propellants and Explosives, through the subsidiary EURENCO, a partnership between SNPE Matériaux Energétiques, Saab and Patria. EURENCO makes energetic products used to produce missile warheads, munitions and pyrotechnic devices for military or industrial use.
  •  Tactical propulsion, via the subsidiary ROXEL, the leading European manufacturer of solid rocket motors for tactical missiles, equally owned by SNPE Matériaux Energétiques and MBDA.
  •  Industrial risk management, via SME Environment, a recognized specialist in pyrotechnic safety.
  •  Fire resistance tests for materials used in construction and railways, through SNPE Matériaux Energétiques’ Fire Testing Laboratory, certified to ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 14001:2004, and accredited by COFRAC.
