Pilot tests
The role of pilot test engineers:
Test engineers contribute to the definition, installation and operation of all test systems, in compliance with quality, safety and environmental procedures. They are responsible for RAMS aspects (reliability, availability, maintainability and safety) of equipment, processes and products, while also meeting cost and lead time requirements. They are the interface between the design/research and production services.
Required skills:
The job of test engineer requires a talent for analysis and synthesis, combined with an in-depth knowledge of one or more scientific disciplines, and proven capabilities in control and discussions.
Functions:
The “job description” for test engineers is based on the following:
• Draw up technical reports on the tests performed.
• Develop and qualify new test methods and measurement methodologies, and write
the associated procedures.
• Design the tools needed for tests, and oversee production as well as set up and operation
of these systems.
• Guarantee the technical reliability of processes and products by building prototypes and
applying cutting-edge technical knowledge.
• Coordinate the installation of equipment and guarantee productivity.
• Anticipate and identify all possible failure points in the life cycle of a product or installation.
• Improve test procedures and methods.
